Jikishin Dan Gradings

7th December 2008

On the morning of Sunday 7th December, in the particularly festive surroundings within East Tilbury Village Hall, commenced the Jikishin Ju Jitsu Dan Gradings. From OEL stood Neil Franklin, Ben Reeves and Glen Andrews. With Ben and Glen hoping to pass their Shodan (black belt) gradings, and Neil going for his Nidan (2nd Dan) examination, the day looked set to be productive. As it happened, it was: In one of the largest black belt gradings in memory, Ben and Glen, along with two others from another club, achieved Shodan with Credit, with all others achieving passes. In a similar fashion, Neil was the only Nidan gradee to achieve credit. So, three OEL students, three credits. It should be noted, as well, that Glen is officially a student of Sensei Colin Humbles, who happened to be grading that day as well - and left as Jikishin's latest 5th Dan; so credit must also go to Colin for the high standards in his clubs. Later on, after a grateful rendevous with some water and some clean clothes, the Jikishin Christmas Dinner/Dance went on well into the night. After being presented with their United Nations of Ju Jitsu certificates, students (and guests) enjoyed top quality Christmas food and a good dance, after the traditional 'Kung-Foo Fighting' escapade. Paul Nichols set the standard on the dance floor, as ever...

So after a highly productive grading, students can look forward to the next step in their ju jitsu career, and set their sights even higher in the future. Congratulations to all involved, and best wishes for the future!

***Well done to all in attendance, and best of luck with your next grades.***
